Valentine

You have been hacked! I repeat, YOU HAVE BEEN HACKED! This is Valentine. I'll be taking over my older brother's blog until further notice because he is... er... a little busy right now.
Anyhow, he gave me full reign over this blog and I plan to use it as I please. It's about time that one of my brothers grants me enough trust to do something on my own.
Currently, I am acting as Ambassador of the Buggers. I have learned their ways through the teachings of the Queen. They are peaceful creatures, with a true, empathetic heart. They're super outgoing. Let's just say that once you know one, you know them all!
Some readers might find all of this Bugger talk strange, but there is more to them than meets the eye. You will have to see it to believe it. They are truly beautiful creatures.

Ideal Conditions

I have now been residing on planet Stilzo for three years. I have had a telepathic experience similar to the one I had when I first found the new Hive Queen's egg. She said that it is time.

My instructions were as follows:
  • Find a cool place to rest the cocoon
  • Create a cover so that little light gets in the sanctuary
  • Make sure that the cocoon doesn't dry so that certain reactions can take place
  • Wait a few weeks until the pupa has tuned brown
  • Split the cocoon open and help the new queen find a soft nesting place
  • The queen will then give birth to thousands of children

I did exactly that. I am currently in the waiting process. No one knows about it yet, I am not even sure how to tell my sister Valentine. She will understand me though, I hope...

If you're really nice, www.nasa.gov/ might lend you earthlings a telescope so that you can see this madness live.

My New Home

Today, I was overcome by the beauty of my current home-planet, Stilzo. It is very much like Earth, except it is 99% covered by water. There is one land mass that has been created by an underwater volcano that erupted approximately two billion years ago.

Take a look:
Beautiful, isn't it?
I have lived here for three years. I govern this planet, and the two past planets that I have made home before. As you know, I am no dictator. I am more of a judge and understanding voice here than anything else. I think that this may be the ideal planet to rebuild the bugger civilization on, but who knows?

Reflection 2

Looking back on my experiences from Battle School, I can now see that the administration was trying to isolate me from the start. In fact, the isolation started even BEFORE I got to Battle School! On the transit ride up, Graff complimented me on my knowledge of space while ridiculing another boy on their lack thereof of that same knowledge. This set me up for weeks of bullying from my fellow launchies. They also removed me from my launchy group once I started being able to confide in my friend Alai. What buggers... In the end, I am thankful for the negative and destructive influence that they had on my life. If Graff and Anderson and Mazer and all of the other heartless adults hadn't set me up for "success" in defeating the buggers, someone else would have. Someone else would have commanded troops in Battle, no doubt less skillfully than I, and would have sacrificed the lives of thousands more troops. Also, once that commander won the war, he/she would not have had the heart to find a home for the species he had just (unknowingly) destroyed.

Reflection

In this first post, I will be reflecting on my childhood and years in Battle School. My real name is Andrew Wiggin, but my nickname Ender was coined early on in my years. I grew up as a Third, which is quite possibly one of the hardest labels for a schoolboy to carry around throughout their childhood.  Both of my parents were religious, one Mormon, and one Catholic, and they performed secret rituals on me throughout my childhood. My sister Valentine was the only person who truly cared about me. Ever. We were inseparable until I went away. Looking back on it now, I am thankful for the influence that my sweet sister Valentine had on me. Without her, I may not have found true meaning in life, or a purpose at all. If it weren't for Valentine, an entire race would be extinct, but we will discuss all of that in a later post. I was harassed by bullies, tormented by my savage brother Peter, and almost "turned off" by the careless removal of my monitor. Nevertheless, I was chosen to be sent to Battle School because of my sheer wit and keen fighting instincts. Read my next post to hear all about Battle School!

My first experience with isolation. Not a pleasant one.
